Texans give up yards Week 1, but hold Redskins to one TD
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (9/7/14) The Texans defense had a bend-but-don't-break mentality during a 17-6 win Week 1 against the Redskins. While Washington put up 372 yards, including 131 rushing yards, Houston allowed just one touchdown -- a 1-yard run by Darrel Young in the second quarter.
The Texans also forced two fumbles and had three sacks. And it wasn't just all the defense Sunday. The special teams unit also got involved.
Defensive lineman J.J. Watt blocked an extra point, and Alfred Blue blocked a punt in the second quarter, which he picked up and ran in for a 5-yard touchdown.
Though, it was not all good news for the Texans defense. They lost rookie Jadeveon Clowney to a knee injury and it appears he's going to be out for a while. NFL.com reports Clowney is slated to miss 4-6 weeks due to a torn meniscus.
