| Hoke retires from football |
| (1/25/12) Pittsburgh nose tackle Chris Hoke announced his retirement Wednesday. He was placed on IR last season and had to undergo season-ending neck surgery on Dec. 14. He played in six games in 2011, starting twice while recording three tackles. |
| Steelers make some transactions |
| (12/8/11) With NT Chris Hoke (neck surgery) and RB Jonathan Dwyer (foot) sidelined indefinitely, the Steelers made roster moves to provide able bodies on the roster for Thursday night’s game against Cleveland. Hoke and Dwyer were placed on injured reserve, and ILB Mortty Ivy and S Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith were activated from the practice squad. |

| (12/6/11) Longtime Steelers DL Chris Hoke is scheduled to undergo neck surgery that will end his season and possibly his NFL career, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuesday. Hoke had a stinger Oct. 16 while starting for injured Casey Hampton and hasn’t played since. |
