David Garrard antsy for action with the Jets
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(12/4/13) Jets quarterback David Garrard has expressed disappointment at his status with the team. Rex Ryan confirmed that he is no more than a third-string option behind Geno Smith and Matt Simms, both of whom played poorly in the Week 13 loss to Miami.
"I'm really puzzled because I'm kind of used to everything," Garrard told Newsday. "They have their reasons why they're sticking with Geno and Matt. I'm here to support them and just be ready if my number is called."
Garrard has not played a down since arriving in late October.
David Garrard could be active soon
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(12/1/13) Jets quarterback David Garrard was inactive yet again in Week 13 against the Dolphins, but coach Rex Ryan admitted after the game he considered activating the veteran. Garrard might have even gotten some playing time, as neither Geno Smith nor his halftime replacement Matt Simms was able to get anything going in the 23-3 loss.
Garrard has not started an NFL game since leaving the Jaguars in 2010. It is not clear if the Jets plan to have an open competition at quarterback leading up to Week 14 against the Raiders.
