Kemoeatu joins the Ravens
(5/3/12) The Ravens and nose tackle Ma'ake Kemoeatu agreed to a one-year deal. Kemoeatu, 33, began his career with the Ravens but did not play in the NFL last season due to Achilles' and knee injuries. "Maake will be given an opportunity to make our 53-man roster, and if he does, he will provide added depth on our D-line and help our ability to stop the run," general manager Ozzie Newsome said Wednesday according to The Sports Xchange.
Kemoeatu placed on IR
(12/22/10) Redskins DL Maake Kemoeatu was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with an undisclosed injury.
Kemoeatu holding his own
(8/18/10) Washington Redskins defensive tackle Ma'ake Kemoeatu has played an ancillary role in the Albert Haynesworth saga at training camp - Kemoeatu is the player holding down the starting nose tackle job while Haynesworth toils with the backups. After missing the entire 2009 season with a torn right Achilles' tendon, Kemoeatu has worked his weight down from a peak of 400 pounds to a somewhat viable 350 or so and is trying again to be the inside force that helped him anchor lines in Baltimore and Carolina. "I'm not going to get back to that weight again," Kemoeatu said. "It was just unhealthy. Playing in the NFL, you've got to be professional about it. Not just working out, but about eating, staying healthy and all that."
Redskins sign NT Kemoeatu
(3/10/10) Free-agent nose tackle Maake Kemoeatu signed a two-year, $6.975 million contract with the Redskins on Wednesday. The 6-foot-5, 345-pound Kemoeatu spent last season on injured reserve with the Carolina Panthers after tearing his Achilles' tendon in training camp. His agent, Ken Vierra, said in a telephone interview that the tendon is "structurally sound" and Kemoeatu is able to walk and jog but not run yet. The Redskins are expected to shift from a 4-3 alignment to a 3-4 under new defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, and Kemoeatu's presence could allow tackle Albert Haynesworth to move outside.
Kemoeatu officially on IR
(8/5/09) The Carolina Panthers have placed starting defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu on injured reserve, ending his season the same day he underwent surgery on his torn right Achilles' tendon. Kemoeatu was injured minutes into Carolina's first training camp practice Monday. Kemoeatu said Tuesday he was holding out hope of returning for the last month of the season, but the Panthers likely couldn't hold a roster spot that long.
