Jets give Scott permission to seek deal: The New York Daily News reports that the Jets have given linebacker Bart Scott permission to seek a trade. Scott's playing time decreased last season and his salary is guaranteed in 2012, so cutting him isn't something the Jets are willing to do. The paper speculates that the Giants might be interested in acquiring Scott. (Updated 02/27/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Scott totaled 66 tackles with 4.5 sacks in 2011. While the sack total was nice -- it was actually his highest since 2006 -- Scott's tackle totals were horrid. It was his worst performance since he became a regular starter in 2005. A change of scenery could afford some opportunities to Scott but it's pretty clear that he's not a great linebacker, especially in pass coverage. You might consider Scott off waivers as a one-week replacement during the season. (Updated 02/27/2012).
