Vikes draft five defenders: The Vikings spent five of 10 draft picks on defense, including a first-round pick on Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith. In addition, the Vikings spent two picks on cornerbacks in Central Florida's Josh Robinson and Notre Dame's Robert Blanton along with two picks toward the front of the defense in N.C. Fantasy Analysis
Smith should start from Day 1 but Blanton has the size and versatility to possibly join him if he can put together a good camp. The Vikings have done a nice job with their secondary this season with Chris Carr and Zackary Bowman joining the defense and providing excellent depth that they might have used last season. The Vikings DST shouldn't get picked in Fantasy drafts but should be considered as a one-week replacement when faced with a good matchup during the season. (Updated 05/08/2012).
