Niners' late rally falls short: The 49ers defense could't get the job done against the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII Sunday night. San Francisco allowed 367 yards of offense, including 287 yards passing from Joe Flacco. Flacco also fired three touchdown passes to torch San Francisco in a 34-31 defeat. The 49ers sacked Flacco just two times and only forced one turnover on the night -- a Ray Rice fumble recovered by Tarell Brown. The Ravens also gave them an intentional safety in the final seconds of the game. (Updated 2/3/13) |

San Francisco nearly rallied from a 22-point second half deficit, but could not complete it as they allowed a pair of field goals to Justin Tucker in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the difference. The Niners failed to apply pressure to the quarterback throughout the postseason and had their hands full with a Baltimore offense that has surprisingly found new life. They scored double-digit Fantasy points in 10 out of 16 regular season games in 2012 and should be viewed as one of the elite DST options heading into 2013. (Updated 2/3/13). |
