Redskins run out of playoffs

(1/6/13) Entering its NFC Wild Card clash against visiting Seattle, the Washington defense was focused on limiting quarterback Russell Wilson. The Redskins were able to relatively contain the dynamic rookie through the air, but were torched on the ground as Wilson racked up 67 rushing yards to deal Washington a 24-14 loss on Sunday. Wilson was part of a strong running game that gave the Redskins problems as the Seahawks racked up 224 total yards on the ground, including 132 by Marshawn Lynch. Washington did manage five sacks on Wilson, though.

Redskins get a crack at Wilson

(1/4/13) The Seahawks head to FedEx Field this Sunday to take on the Redskins as part of Wild Card Weekend. The winner will advance in the 2012 postseason, the loser will go home. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been anything but a loser of late, working with Marshawn Lynch in propelling the offense to well over 300 yards per game in their last five. In that span the Seahawks have averaged 38.6 points per game and turned the ball over just three times.

Redskins force three INTs on SNF

(12/30/12) The Redskins DST stepped up when it mattered the most during Sunday's regular season finale at home against the Cowboys in Week 17. With the team up by just a field goal with three minutes remaining in the game, Rob Jackson picked off Tony Romo's pass to help seal the win. The Redskins picked off Romo three times to go along with two sacks in a 28-18 victory.

Redskins ready to slow down run game

(12/26/12) The Redskins DST will be looking to slow down Tony Romo and the Cowboys at home in the regular season finale. The Redskins will try to contain Romo, who has averaged 332 yards passing with a total of 10 touchdowns and one interception over his last four games. Linebacker London Fletcher believes the key to winning Sunday's game will be slowing down DeMarco Murray, who was absent from the team's first meeting on Thanksgiving Day with a foot sprain. The Cowboys ran the ball just 11 times for 35 yards in that game. “You can tell there is a difference,” said Fletcher. “I think they have good backs. Obviously, having him in the fold makes their run game better.”

Redskins hold on for win

(12/23/12) The Redskins DST bent just about as much as a team can without breaking on Sunday afternoon of Week 16 in Philadelphia. Washington held a 27-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter and got an intentional grounding call with time expiring deep in their own territory by Nick Foles to hold on to win 27-20. The Redskins DST gave up 411 total yards of offense in the game but forced two turnovers. The Redskins DST also managed five sacks in the game with Ryan Kerrigan notching two of them.
