Packers can't slow down Kaep
(1/12/13) The Packers DST turned in a mediocre performance as they allowed Colin Kaepernick to total 446 yards alone on offense during Saturday's NFC Divisional Playoff game at San Francisco. Green Bay still managed to have an interception return for a touchdown by Sam Shields in a deflating 45-31 defeat. The Packers allowed 581 yards of offense and brought down Kaepernick just once for a sack in a losing effort.
Niners up next for Packers D
(1/10/13) Joe Webb helped the Green Bay defense look good last week against Minnesota, but the Niners don't field a quarterback nearly that bad. The Pack will travel to San Francisco and take on an offense that has done well against opposing DSTs. The Niners have had at least 310 total yards in all but one game this year and have averaged 27.0 points per game over their last four. Only two of the last nine DSTs to play the Niners have posted over 10 Fantasy points and both needed a touchdown to get there. Colin Kaepernick has been sacked exactly once in each of his last three.
Packers not tangled up by Webb
(1/5/13) Even before the opening kickoff for its NFC Wild Card matchup against Minnesota, the Green Bay defense earned a small victory when Vikings starting quarterback Christian Ponder was ruled out with an elbow injury. The Packers feasted on his replacement -- Joe Webb -- and advanced to the Divisional Round with a convincing 24-10 win Saturday night. Green Bay netted three sacks and an interception on Webb during the game and held the third-year signal-caller without a touchdown pass until less than four minutes remained in the fourth quarter.
Packers defense to stay busy
(1/3/13) The Packers will host the Vikings in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday, a matchup that doesn't exactly bode well for the Packers DST. In two games this season the unit has been rocked by Adrian Peterson and a number of Vikings players. Combined, the DST tallied one sack and two interceptions of Christian Ponder while holding the Vikings to 14 points (at home) and 37 points (in Minnesota).
