Lewis rides off into sunset: After racking up double-digit tackles in his first three postseason games back from a torn triceps, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis was held in check early on against the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. Lewis got off to a slow start but was to bounce back with a goal-line stand to clinch the championship for Baltimore. He finished with seven tackles in a 34-31 victory. He came up with three of his seven tackles in the final two drives of the game. "It's no greater way, as a champ, to go out on your last ride with the men that I went out with, with my teammates," Lewis said. "And you looked around this stadium and Baltimore! Baltimore! We coming home, baby! We did it!" (Updated 2/4/13) |

It's sort of fitting that the final series of Lewis' career was a goal-line stand as he and the Ravens clinched a second Super Bowl title. Playing with a noticeable drive during the final stretch of his career, the 37-year-old finished with 51 tackles in his last four games back from a triceps injury. Lewis is set to retire now and will hang up his cleats as perhaps the best -- and most feared -- linebacker in NFL history. (Updated 2/4/13). |
