Anquan Boldin, five others absent from 49ers OTA practice
|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(5/21/15) Six players were absent from the 49ers' OTA practice on Thursday, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
Those not present were wide receiver Anquan Boldin, fullback Bruce Miller, offensive linemen Alex Boone and Anthony Davis, punter Andy Lee and kicker Phil Dawson.
OTA practices are voluntary and players are not required to attend.
Linebacker NaVorro Bowman was also not present though he was given the day off by 49ers coach Jim Tomsula. Bowman missed the 2014 season after sustaining an ACL tear during the 2013 playoffs.
49ers WR Anquan Boldin to Colin Kaepernick: 'Be yourself'
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(4/9/15) 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is in the midst of an offseason evolution of his game, but he has one supporter in wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who said in a radio interview that the signal-caller should not reinvent the wheel, per NFL.com.
"To be honest with you I think he just has to block out everything else around him, stop listening to what people want, what people have to say about you, stop listening to what people want to see you do and just be yourself," Boldin said.
Kaepernick, who has been working with former QB Kurt Warner, completed 60.5 percent of his passes in 2014, throwing for 3,369 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 639 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
Anquan Boldin: Torrey Smith to 49ers a 'done deal'
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(3/10/15) 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin told CBSSports.com Senior Fantasy Writer Jamey Eisenberg that Torrey Smith to San Francisco is a "done deal." Boldin also revealed that he helped recruit Smith to the 49ers this offseason. The signing won't become official until the league calendar opens at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
Smith, 26, hauled in 213 catches for 3,591 yards and 30 touchdowns during his time with the Ravens. He logged one 1,000-yard plus season in 2013. He recorded a single-season best 11 touchdowns in 2014.

Cardinals' Anquan Boldin makes the most of his limited chances
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(12/28/14) San Francisco wideout Anquan Boldin didn't catch many balls Week 17, but still made a difference.
Boldin hauled in just two passes, but picked up a team-high 81 yards. Most of that came on a 76 yard scoring strike in the first quarter. Boldin managed to break free in the middle of the field as Colin Kaepernick scrambled to buy himself some time. Boldin caught the ball about 10 yards past the line of scrimmage, but managed to outrun the defense to the end zone for the score. He would catch a 5 yard pass to begin the second quarter, but that was it.
With the performance, Boldin went over 1,000 receiving yards for the sixth time in his career. He finished with 83 receptions for 1,062 yards and five touchdowns.
49ers WR Anquan Boldin catches seven passes vs. Chargers
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(12/21/14) 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin recorded a team-high seven receptions on nine targets for 61 yards in his team's 38-35 overtime loss to the Chargers in Week 16.
Boldin managed more than half of the team's receiving production Saturday, as the other San Francisco players combined for only 53 yards on eight receptions, though rookie Bruce Ellington did managed to catch a touchdown.
Boldin had his best performance since a nine-catch, 137-yard breakout in Week 12. He's racked up 81 receptions for 981 yards with four touchdowns going into a Week 17 matchup with the Cardinals, a team for which he played from 2003 to 2009. He'll be looking to secure his seventh career 1,000-yard performance in the season finale.
|Anquan Boldin has been the model of consistency since coming to the 49ers in 2013, and we should expect similar production this year. Boldin is averaging 84 catches for 1,120 yards and six touchdowns the past two seasons, and he's been a Top 24 receiver in standard leagues each year. He's a great receiver to target with a late-round pick because most Fantasy owners will pass on him since he's 35 and expected to slow down. That might happen this year, especially since Torrey Smith is an upgrade on Michael Crabtree on the opposite side of the field. But at a time when Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald are looking old and slow, Boldin continues to produce at a high level. He led the 49ers in targets in 2014 with 130, and we should expect Colin Kaepernick to lean on him again. Based on his expected Average Draft Position, you should be able to get Boldin at a great price with even better rewards.
