Jarret Johnson cut by Chargers day after he retired

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(2/25/15) A day after announcing his retirement from the NFL, Jarret Johnson was officially cut by the Chargers, according to the NFL's transaction wire.

Johnson played 12 years in the NFL — his first nine with the Ravens and the previous three with the Chargers. He announced his retirement in an Instagram post.

"Today I am announcing my retirement from the game I love," Johnson wrote. "I lived a dream which few can say but it's time to move on. I want to thank the Chargers organization for giving me a home these past three years. I have nothing but respect for the players, coaches, front office staff and fans that were apart of me and my families lives."

Johnson gained an iron man reputation for his durability on the football field. He holds Ravens records for consecutive games played (129) and consecutive starts (80). His career ends with a total of 506 tackles, 25.5 sacks, 23 pass deflections and three interceptions.
