Rams release Jake Long, Scott Wells

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3/9/15) The Rams announced that the team has released tackle Jake Long and center Scott Wells to help clear room under the salary cap.

Long was scheduled to make $9.25 million in 2015, with a $10.5 million cap hit. Wells would have made $2 million with a $4.75 million hit. Combined, the two moves save about $12 million against the 2015 cap.

Fisher: Rams' Jake Long, Greg Robinson rehabbing injuries

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(2/20/15) Jeff Fisher updated the injury status of two Rams offensive linemen during his press conference at the Indianapolis scouting combine, Friday.

Fisher announced that left tackle Greg Robinson had toe surgery after the regular season ended. The rookie played in all 16 games for the Rams last season, starting 12.

Tackle Jake Long is also bouncing back from surgery. Long tore his ACL seven games into the season. Fisher said that Long's rehab is "coming along" With Robinson's success at left tackle, the team is trying to decide where else on the line Long could fit in.

With Long's status in doubt, Rams plan to start Robinson at LT in '15

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/1/15) While veteran tackle Jake Long's status for 2015 remains up in the air as he returns from a second torn ACL in as many seasons, Rams coach Jeff Fisher indicated Greg Robinson will be the team's starting left tackle next season.

"We’re going to wait and see for Jake and see how he’s feeling," Fisher said. "He’s been in the building the last couple of days. All indications are that he wants to come back. Yeah, as we stand right now Greg’s going to be our left tackle."

If Long decides to return next season, the Rams are already considering where he might play along the offensive line.

"Jake’s a good enough athlete that he could play -- I’m not going to go out on a limb and say he could play center -- but yeah, he could play guard or play right tackle, I believe,” Fisher said.

Rams unsure if LT Jake Long wants to keep playing

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/30/14) Rams coach Jeff Fisher said he's not sure if left tackle Jake Long wants to keep playing, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Long tore his ACL for the second straight season and has missed 10 games during his two-year tenure with St. Louis.

Long was the top overall pick in the 2008 draft by the Dolphins.

Rams' Fisher confirms Jake Long is out for rest of season

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/28/14) Rams coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Monday that offensive lineman Jake Long will miss the remainder of the season after re-injuring his knee Sunday against the Chiefs. Long suffered a torn ACL and MCL late last season.

"Jake has re-torn his ACL. He will be out for the remainder of the season," Fisher said, per the team's official website. "Jake worked really, really hard to get back. And it’s kind of an isolated incident, isolated contact, and it’s just kind of a freak thing. We just appreciate him … his work, and the difficulty associated with coming back from that injury. But he’s done it once, and he’ll do it again."
