Seattle D shows up too late: The Seahawks comeback effort Sunday at Atlanta came up a little short and Seattle exited the playoffs after suffering a 30-28 loss in the Divisional round. Seattle actually rallied from a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit and took the lead with 31 seconds remaining, but Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan needed just two passes for 41 yards to set up Matt Bryant for the game-winning 49-yard field goal. Atlanta managed 417 yards (167 rushing) in the win. Seattle forced two interceptions, but failed to sack Ryan.

Seattle played much better defense in the second half after Atlanta jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first half. Yet, the defense couldn't stop Atlanta at the end of the game and it cost them dearly. The Seahawks were a pretty good defensive unit for most of the season. They didn't allow an opponent during the regular season to manage 30 points and gave up at least 20 points just five times. The Seahawks were a Top 5 Fantasy scoring DST in 2012 and will be a draftable option in all formats in 2013.

| The Seahawks DST turned out to be among the best units in 2012, and they should continue to produce at a high level this season. The Seahawks were No. 3 in Fantasy points in standard leagues last year with 36 sacks, 13 fumble recoveries, 18 interceptions and six defensive touchdowns. They scored at least 16 Fantasy points seven times, including 45 points in Week 14 against the Cardinals. The Seahawks reached double digits in Fantasy points in all but four games, and they should be dominant again. We consider the Seahawks DST a No. 1 option in all leagues, and they are worth drafting with a late-round pick. (Updated 4/26/13) |
