Preseason Outlook

Redskins checking out QB Orton?: Kyle Orton might be next on the Redskins' radar if they cannot sign Peyton Manning, Comcast SportsNet reports. Orton was considered by the Redskins when he was waived by the Broncos but the team thought there could be friction between him and Rex Grossman, so they didn't claim him. Orton would be a cost-effective alternative to Manning, though he's not as good as Manning. (Updated 02/09/2012)

Orton totaled nine touchdowns with nine interceptions with the Broncos and Chiefs in 2011, passing for 1,758 yards. Orton's been a low-end No. 2 passer for years and hasn't delivered huge totals, so owners should be at the point where he'd be no better than a No. 3 passer if he were to land a starting job this summer.
