Sammy Watkins making Kyle Orton look good
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(10/26/14) After a big four-touchdown game in Week 8, Bills quarterback Kyle Orton is averaging 22.3 Fantasy points per game since taking over as quarterback. And he has Sammy Watkins to thank.
Orton racked up 33 Fantasy points in Week 8, and much of the damage came on passes thrown to Watkins. Though he threw three touchdowns to players not named Watkins, the rookie was on the receiving end of 157 of Orton's 238 yards and three of his 10 completions.
Watkins has emerged as such an explosive playmaker, he is helping revive Orton's Fantasy career. Orton has multiple touchdowns in each of his last three games, while averaging 282 yards through the air. Orton is finding enough success right now to make him at least worth a look for Fantasy owners who need a boost at quarterback, though you won't get anything out of him in Week 9, with the Bills on a bye.
Bills QB Kyle Orton throws four TDs in Week 8 win vs. Jets
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(10/26/14) Bills quarterback Kyle Orton completed just 10 passes on 17 attempts Sunday but threw for 238 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in his team's 43-23 win over the Jets in Week 8.
Orton, who added six rushing yards on two carries, was the beneficiary of some terrible quarterback play by the opposing team, as the Jets turned the ball over six times in the loss and continually set Orton and the Bills up with great field position. Orton did his job, protecting the ball while hooking up on touchdowns of 22, 1, 12 and 61 yards, with the longest coming on a fourth-quarter strike to rookie Sammy Watkins. The two could have had a second touchdown hookup, but Watkins was caught from behind while prematurely celebrating what would have been an 89-yard score. Orton had to settle for an 84-yard play, and the Bills scored a rushing touchdown soon after the big strike.
Orton has been a needed shot in the arm for Watkins and the entire Bills passing attack, and he's totaled 1,128 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions in his four games. The Bills head into a Week 9 bye with a 5-3 record before facing the Chiefs in Week 10.
Waiver wire thin for quarterbacks this week
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(10/21/14) With an eye on Week 8 and beyond, Jamey Eisenberg tabbed his top quarterbacks on the waiver wire Tuesday, headlined by the Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill, who is owned in just 43 percent of CBSSports.com leagues at this point.
Additionally, Jamey eyes a few key stashes who might be worth your time if you are having trouble at the position or just have a roster spot to fill. Specifically, recovering Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (36 percent) and Johnny Manziel (13 percent), the Browns' backup, could be worth a flier.
Among quarterbacks with a lower ceiling who nonetheless have jobs locked down, Kyle Orton of the Bills (12 percent) and Alex Smith of the Chiefs (59 percent) have some value, with matchups against the Jets and Rams, respectively, for Week 8.
Kyle Orton engineers late TD drive in Bills' Week 7 win
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(10/19/14) Bills quarterback Kyle Orton completed 31 of his 43 pass attempts for 283 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in his team's 17-16 win over the Vikings in Week 7.
Orton put his team ahead early in the second quarter, tossing a beautiful 26-yard touchdown to Sammy Watkins early in the second quarter. He saved his best for the end of the game, getting the ball back down six points with a little more than three minutes left in the fourth quarter and engineering an 80-yard drive capped by a two-yard touchdown to Watkins in the corner of the end zone with one second left on the clock.
Orton is 2-1 as the Bills' starter, and he's managed 890 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions during his three games. His next test comes on the road in Week 8 when the Bills square off with the Jets.

|(10/12/14) Bills quarterback Kyle Orton threw for a pair of touchdowns Sunday against the Patriots. However, counterpart Tom Brady threw for four touchdowns, leading New England to a 37-22 win Week 6.

His second touchdown pass came with 5:58 left in the fourth quarter. It was an 8-yard touchdown to Chris Hogan, which cut the deficit to 30-22.

|Kyle Orton hasn't decided if he wants to play again in 2014 and could retire. Orton, 31, would be the No. 2 quarterback for the Cowboys if he returns behind Tony Romo, and he played well last year when Romo went down with 358 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 17 against the Eagles. Even if Orton does return this year he would have minimal Fantasy value barring an injury to Romo. Ignore Orton in all leagues on Draft Day.
