Matt Ryan tosses three scores Week 4
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/28/14) Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan tossed three touchdowns Week 4 against the Vikings.

Ryan completed 25 of 41 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns. Ryan also threw two interceptions during the contest. Even with Harry Douglas out, Ryan was able to take advantage of his top three receivers. Julio Jones, Roddy White and Devin Hester all managed at least 70 yards during the contest. White and Hester managed to haul in touchdowns, as did fullback Patrick DiMarco.

Ryan will take on the Giants Week 5.

Can Matt Ryan keep it going?
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/25/14) When the Falcons travel to Minnesota in Week 4, quarterback Matt Ryan will be taking on the same defense that Drew Brees was supposed to torch in Week 3. That didn't exactly happen. Brees was decent enough, throwing for 293 yards and two touchdowns, but he didn't have the type of game his owners were hoping for when they drafted him.

That's no reason to shy away from Ryan this week. His performance Week 2 at Cincinnati gives you reason to question his consistency, as good as he was the other two weeks, but even if the Vikings defense did show a little something against the Saints, it's not the Bengals defense. The Bengals defense is looking like it might have reached another level with the way it followed up that Week 2 performance against the Titans last week. It may, in fact, be beyond matchups.

And in case you haven't noticed, Ryan is too. Don't let one disappointment interfere with a good thing, whether this week or beyond.

Matt Ryan dominates before early exit
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/19/14) Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was dominant against the Falcons Thursday night.

Ryan completed 21 of 24 attempts, for 286 yards and three scores. He did all of this before the end of the third quarter. With the Falcons up 42-0, Ryan was pulled from the game. Tampa had no answers for the Falcons offense, allowing Ryan to drive the ball up and down the field with ease. Ryan also had one rushing attempt for 2 yards.

Ryan will look for more Week 4 against the Vikings.

Matt Ryan expects offense to get back on track Week 3
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/16/14) The Falcons amassed just 309 yards and 10 points in a Week 2 loss at Cincinnati after totaling 568 yards and 37 points in a Week 1 win vs. New Orleans. Quarterback Matt Ryan expects the offense to get back on track heading into Thursday's showdown with the Bucs, per ESPN.

"On a positive note, I think there are some things we've done well, more so in Week 1 than Week 2,'' Ryan said Tuesday. "But I think the run game has been pretty efficient up until this point. We need to continue to be efficient in the run game.

"And then in terms of the pass game, I think that's an area ... we just need to be more consistent. One of the thing that we've seen is that one week, we're capable of making a bunch of explosives. The following week, we're not. We've got to get to a point where week in and week out, we show up and play the way that we're capable of."

Nothing goes right for Matt Ryan
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/14/14) After winning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 1 with a career-best performance against the Saints, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan couldn't have looked any different Week 2 at Cincinnati. His receivers had no room to run after the catch in the first half, leading to just 60 yards on 10-of-17 passing, which forced him to take chances downfield in the second half, resulting in three interceptions.

In the end, he was 24-of-44 passing for 231 yards -- a decent total but a far cry from the 448 he had in Week 1. Of his interceptions, the first was on a well-located pass that bounced off the hands of tight end Levine Toilolo, and the third was on a desperation heave downfield on the team's final position. The second one, though, was costly, coming with the Falcons on the verge of scoring their first touchdown deep in Bengals' territory late in the third quarter.

Ryan did have one highlight, finding wide receiver Julio Jones on a 14-yard pass in the fourth quarter for his only touchdown on the day. He also ran three times for 28 yards.

He'll have a short week to prepare for his next opponent, the Buccaneers, who will visit Atlanta Thursday night.
