Falcons' Matt Ryan has two TDs, two turnovers in Week 12 loss
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(11/23/14) Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw two touchdowns Sunday against the Browns. However, the Falcons lost a close game on a last-second field goal, as Cleveland escaped with a 26-24 win Week 12.
Ryan completed 27 of 43 passes for 273 yards, while rushing for 6 yards on two carries. However, Ryan had some turnover issues Sunday. He threw one interception and lost one fumble in the loss.
Ryan gave Atlanta a 7-0 lead when he connected with Julio Jones for a 24-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He put Atlanta back in front, 14-13, with an 8-yard touchdown pass to running back Jacquizz Rodgers with 55 seconds left in the first half.
Sunday was just the second time in seven games Ryan had multiple touchdown passes. The Falcons are back in action Week 13 vs. Arizona.

|(11/16/14) Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan kept rolling with another solid performance, leading his team to a 19-17 victory over the Panthers in Week 11.
Ryan had a hard time scoring touchdowns in the red zone throughout the game. He got off to a slow start before hooking up with Roddy White for a 2-yard score in the third quarter. He compiled 268 yards through the air while completing 31 of 45 pass attempts. He added one touchdown and no interceptions, registering a 91.7 passer rating.
Ryan will look for his third consecutive win Week 12 against the Browns.
Matt Ryan produces just one touchdown against Bucs

|(11/9/14) Facing the league's 31st ranked pass defense, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan completed 20 of 31 throws for 219 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 win at Tampa Bay. Ryan has thrown just six touchdown passes over his past five games.
Sunday, he hit wideout Roddy White for a 5-yard score in the fourth quarter. Earlier he had receiver Julio Jones wide open for a 48-yard score. But Ryan underthrew him and the pass was knocked away. Receiver Devin Hester dropped a touchdown pass, too.
Ryan, who has one 300-yard game since the opener, rushed three times for 9 yards. He visits the Panthers in Week 11.
Matt Ryan worth a shot this week

|(11/6/14) If you haven't checked out the latest Start 'Em and Sit 'Em, you may not know that Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is the CBSSports.com Start of the Week for Week 10. One of the reasons Jamey Eisenberg points out in the column is that Ryan has scored at least 27 Fantasy points in each of his last three games coming off a bye, but the bigger reason for me is just the matchup.
Ryan doesn't need a healthy offensive line to move the ball against the Buccaneers. They rank 31st against the pass, allowing 285.3 yards per game, and have given up the fifth-most Fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.
Plus, Ryan had one of his better games in his earlier meeting with them this season, throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns in Week 3. His offensive line was healthier then, sure, but even a second-string unit should be able to get by against this defense.
With all the injuries to his offensive line, Ryan has become a risky play in general, but this week, both Jamey and Dave Richard rank him among their top seven quarterbacks.
QB Matt Ryan feels Falcons can bounce back in second half

|(11/6/14) The Falcons open the second half of the season with a 2-6 record and mired in a five-game losing streak. Despite the struggles, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan remains confident Atlanta can have a strong second half.
"We've done some things well on the offensive side of the ball, but we're missing a play here or a play there," Ryan said, per ESPN. "And it's kind of a different thing each week. ... It's kind of across the board, we've made mistakes. And we've looked at it.
"I think guys have had a chance to really look in the mirror; take a good, hard look at themselves and self-evaluate. I think guys have the right mindset. I really do."
Ryan also talked about where he can make improvements in the second half.
"Just making plays when they're there," he said. "Specifically in the fourth quarter. When there are opportunities that present themselves, you've got to hit them. It's not revolutionary or anything crazy. It is what it is. When the plays are there, we've got to make them.
"I think a theme for us has to be being opportunistic. There are different points throughout a game where opportunities present themselves, and we've got good enough players that we've got to make those plays when they present themselves. That's kind of going to be my focus heading into this week."
|Last season was a nightmare for Matt Ryan as he played the majority of it without top receiver Julio Jones, without veteran wideout Roddy White at full health and without a decent offensive line. That's all changed: Jones and White are healthy and the O-line has been a focus for the Falcons all offseason long. Gone from the offense is Tony Gonzalez, who joined our team here at CBS Sports. What's expected is for the Falcons to remain just as pass-oriented as they've been over the past two years when Ryan has had over 600 attempts. If you're looking for numbers close to his banner 2012 year, they're attainable but questions about how the Falcons move on from Gonzalez and his annual contributions persist. Still, Ryan is expected to remain as a solid Top 10 Fantasy passer you'll likely be able to land at a phenomenal value between Rounds 5 and 6.
