Fantasy Analysis
Ryans, a seven-year veteran, fills a big void on the Philadelphia defense. He registered 64 tackles in his 16 games last year for Houston playing in the middle of their 3-4 scheme. When the linebacker played in the middle alone in the Texans' 4-3 scheme, he was a tackle freak. He had at least 110 total tackles in his first four seasons before getting hurt in his fifth and moving to the 3-4 in his sixth. Now that the Eagles will give Ryans a home in the middle of their defense, there's potential for him to get back to 100-plus tackles. In typical Fantasy leagues that reward tackles, Ryans should be considered a low-end No. 1 option worth a mid-round pick. (Updated 03/20/2012).
05/18/2012 13:14 Eagles' renewed inward focus will lead them back to top of NFC East
The Eagles' dream team was a nightmare. But after Philly's brass woke up to its 2011 missteps, Clark Judge sees a franchise moving back in the right direction -- past the Giants to favored status in NFC East.
DeMeco Ryans has moved on to Philadelphia following a trade from Houston this offseason. The move cements him as the man in the middle of the Eagles defense, and it's a welcomed addition for the team considering just how weak their run defense was last year. Ryans should feel comfortable calling the shots there and seems to be over his injuries from 2010. There's 100-plus-tackle potential here with some pass defense stats mixed in. We'd speculate on Ryans as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy linebacker with obvious potential. (Updated 4/23/12)
