Rank Among Leaders
|DeMeco Ryans 'isn't going anywhere' |
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
(2/25/14) Some reports have surfaced speculating DeMeco Ryans might be released, but the Philadelphia Inquirer says the Eagles inside linebacker "isn't going anywhere." Ryans, scheduled to earn $6.8 million in 2014, probably won't even be asked to take a pay cut, the paper said.
"As much as they need Ryans lining the defense up and making stops against the run, they need his leadership perhaps even more," the paper continued. "Ryans commands the most respect in the Eagles locker room and 'forcing' him to take a pay cut would not go over well with the other players."

(2/19/14) Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans, who's scheduled to make $6.9 million in 2014, is a candidate for release, reports NFL.com. Ryans had 128 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions last season, but "his reputation and salary far exceed his play on the field," the report said.
At a minimum, Ryans is looking at a big pay cut.

(11/17/13) Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans, who recorded double-digit tackles in each of his previous two games, still led the team in that category Week 11 against the Redskins, but he had only seven, including five solo.
Ryans is averaging 8.7 tackles in 11 games this season. He also has two sacks and two interceptions.
|DeMeco Ryans has monster game in Week 10 win |
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
(11/10/13) Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans turned in a monster game as he came down with an interception and logged 10-plus tackles Sunday against the Packers in Week 10.
Ryans picked off third-string quarterback Scott Tolzien off a deflection in the third quarter. He finished the game with a team-high 13 total tackles (11 solo), two tackles for loss and one pass defended. He’s the first Philadelphia player with two interceptions and two sacks in a season since 2010.
|DeMeco Ryans had one of the best years of his career in 2013, and he should continue to play well this season. Ryans had 128 total tackles (103), which was his best total since 2009. He also had a career-high four sacks, two interceptions and seven pass defenses. Ryans should be considered a No. 1 linebacker in IDP leagues, and he's worth drafting with a mid-round pick on Draft Day. He now has consecutive seasons with 100-plus tackles since coming to the Eagles in 2012, so he should be able to reach that total again for the third year in a row if he can stay healthy.
