Could Lions cut Scheffler?: The release of Tony Scheffler could save the Lions over $2 million on the salary cap in 2013, Mlive.com reported Tuesday. He's set to enter the final year of his deal in 2013.

Scheffler had some golden opportunities to step up late in 2012 but finished with just one touchdown. He did have 504 yards, his highest total since signing with the Lions in 2010. Getting cut could help him find a new job where he might potentially start but chances are no one will draft Scheffler in drafts this summer.
