Spencer finished as a Top-30 linebacker, but barely. The good news is that the Cowboys look like they're headed to a 4-3 scheme under new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. With Spencer now staying with Dallas he'll likely be transitioned to the defensive line. That would give him added value as a DL in Fantasy. Count on that happening and plan on drafting him with a mid-round pick. (Updated 3/12/13). |

2013 NFL free-agency preview: Dallas Cowboys
With 2012 in the books for the Cowboy, we're looking ahead -- to free agency, the draft and, ultimately, the 2013 season. Just six months to go.

| Anthony Spencer had a career year in 2012 with 11 sacks and 95 total tackles (55 solo). It helped him earn the franchise tag for the second year in row, and Spencer will be playing for a new contract. Duplicating the double digits in sacks will be difficult, but Spencer will benefit with the expected move from linebacker to defensive line in the new 4-3 scheme the Cowboys will run. That should enhance his value, and he's worth drafting with a mid-round pick. (Updated 4/26/13) |
