Giants re-sign DB Thomas: Terrell Thomas signed a one-year contract to stay with the Giants. The defensive back tore an ACL for the third time in his playing career last summer; he hasn't played in an NFL game since 2010. Speculation is that the team will move him to safety. "My knee feels great," Thomas said per the official team website. "It was a little struggle at first. It was a little inconsistent with the swelling. But for the last month-and-a half I haven't dealt with any swelling at all. It's progressed the last two weeks since I started running. The doctors are really happy with the way I'm progressing. They had to increase my workload because it wasn't enough." (Updated 2/11/13) |

Thomas playing safety could have its benefits. He's already considered a good tackler with a track record of putting up some nice numbers to boot. But did you read the part about three torn ACLs? That makes Thomas a risk not worth taking unless with a very late pick in a deep draft. (Updated 2/11/13). |
| Terrell Thomas is back with the Giants this year, and he will look to get on the field for the first time since 2010. Thomas has missed the past two years with separate ACL tears, and he could move from cornerback to safety. He was one of the better tackling cornerbacks in the NFL with 86 solo stops in 2010. He totaled 101 tackles that year to go with five interceptions and a sack, enough to make him the No. 1 Fantasy defensive back in standard CBSSports.com leagues. If he can prove he's healthy and not limited by the injury, Fantasy owners should look into drafting him with a late pick as at least a quality reserve. (Updated 4/26/13) |
