Fantasy Analysis
Weddle was more of a run-stopper in his early years but has developed into a ball-hawking safety for the Chargers. He should only continue to grow as a Fantasy option at age 26 so consider him a solid DB in IDP formats on Draft Day in 2012. (Updated 01/01/2012).
05/23/2012 09:39 Finding the Fits: Chargers' strong draft didn't end with Melvin Ingram
So much of the post-draft attention given to the San Diego Chargers has focused on pass rusher Melvin Ingram, who, to the surprise of some, was still available at No. 18 overall. The former South Carolina star should prove the crown jewel of San Diego's 2012 draft, but the Chargers' work didn't end there. Another SEC standout -- safety Brandon Taylor -- could also provide an immediate impact.
Eric Weddle continues to play at a high level and should be considered a solid starting option in all IDP leagues. In 2011, Weddle had 88 total tackles (70 solo) with a career-high seven interceptions and 12 passes defensed. He now has at least 80 total tackles in each of the past four seasons, and we don't expect him to falter this year. He should be drafted with a mid-round pick in all IDP formats. (Updated 4/25/12)
