Raiders DST comes up short again : The Raiders DST surrendered 24 points on 210 yards of offense in Week 17 against the Chargers. The unit surrendered just 140 passing yards, albeit Philip Rivers still threw a pair of touchdowns in the 24-21 win. Oakland did a good job limiting San Diego's run game but the unit failed to force a turnover and only collected two sacks in the defeat. (Updated 12/31/12) |

The Raiders defense played well Sunday, but the unit failed to make any game-changing plays or plays that would result in Fantasy points. That has been the story with the Raiders for most of the year as Oakland's DST has only scored in double-digit Fantasy points in five of its 15 games thus far. Unless the team adds some big names via free agency in the offseason, owners should consider the Raiders DST merely a low-end option heading into 2013. (Updated 12/31/12). |
| The Raiders DST has a lot of work to do before Fantasy owners can count on them. In 2012, the Raiders were among the worst DST options with just 117 Fantasy points in a standard league. They had only 11 interceptions, 25 sacks and nine fumble recoveries while allowing 443 points. In the past two years, the Raiders have allowed 876 points, which is ridiculously bad. Until things start to change on defense, you can’t count on the Raiders DST as anything more than a bye-week replacement in the deepest of leagues. Based on the stats, it’s easy to pass on the Raiders DST on Draft Day. (Updated 4/26/13) |
