Woodley restructures deal: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers have restructured the contract of linebacker LaMarr Woodley to create another $4 million in salary cap space for the team in 2013. Woodley, signed through 2016, was scheduled to earn a $9 million salary this year. By turning about $5.5 million of that into a signing bonus, it would open the cap space this year, pushing off the salary-cap accounting into future years. (Updated 3/12/13) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Woodley is coming off a down year in 2012 with just four sacks. He hasn't reached double digits in sacks since 2010. Still, his potential to be a sack specialist is immense, and he's worth a late-round pick in all IDP leagues. Plan on drafting him with a late-round selection this year. (Updated 3/12/13). |
| LaMarr Woodley could be sliding off the Fantasy map after another season where his sack totals dipped and his playing time dropped because of injuries. In 13 games, the linebacker totaled four sacks, 38 total tackles, a pass defensed and an interception. Now maybe if he had three more games he could have been more productive but the tough reality is that Woodley has missed nine games in two years and has not been the force he was when he was younger. If you're in a league that doesn't reward tackles, Woodley should be considered a No. 3 linebacker worth a middle- to late-round pick. But if tackles count, then other linebackers should come before Woodley in Fantasy, making him someone to pass on. (Updated 4/26/13) |
