Bears K Robbie Gould downplays Brandon Marshall 's rant

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/20/14) Bears kicker Robbie Gould has downplayed his teammate Brandon Marshall 's dramatic postgame rant in a radio appearance on WSCR 670-AM on Monday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"I wouldn't give this any more attention than it obviously needs," Gould said. "Everyone's trying to make this a story out of something that really wasn't that big of a deal. … Obviously everyone's frustrated. Everyone wants to win. Our fans want to win. Coaches want to win. The players want to win. And everyone's obviously frustrated."

After losing to his former team on Sunday, the star wideout was heard screaming at his teammates -- including Gould -- through the locker room doors before venting to the media. The Bears have lost their first three games at home this season, matching their home loss total from each of the previous five seasons.

They'll look to get back on track Week 8 at New England.

Bears WR Brandon Marshall held under 50 yards vs. former team

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/19/14) Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall was held under 50 receiving yards in a disappointing loss to his former team on Sunday. Following the game, Marshall showed his frustration after the game in a press conference, per ESPN.

"We lost, there should be a lot of frustration," Marshall said. "You should hear frustration. We're 3-4. Yeah, this means everything to a lot of guys in this locker room. This means a lot."

Marshall was targeted 10 times and finished with only six catches for 48 in a 27-14 Week 7 loss to Miami. He has 31 catches for 349 yards and five touchdowns this season. He'll look to turn things around Week 8 at New England.

Quiet game not a concern for Bears' receivers

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/19/14) The Dolphins cornerbacks don't stand particularly tall, so smart money was on the Bears' big wideouts going off for big games. So, why were Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall so silent in Week 7?

Quarterback Jay Cutler struggled with his accuracy Sunday, which helps explain the issues Marshall and Jeffery had. When throwing to tight ends or running backs, Cutler completed 76.5 percent of his passes, but he connected on just 8 of 17 to Marshall or Jeffery. The Dolphins got pressure on Cutler well, so the Bears' receivers were unable to get open downfield; they had just 57 combined yard son their eight receptions.

Marshall and Jefferey both had 100-plus yards last week, so this is probably just a bump in the road. Marshall was unhappy with the team's offensive execution after the game, so you can bet he will work hard to get on the same page with Cutler moving forward. Don't consider benching either player for Week 8 against the Patriots next Sunday.

Bears could pass all over the Dolphins

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/16/14) Wide receivers have terrorized the Dolphins over the last two games, and that trend is unlikely to change in Week 7 with Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and the Bears on the schedule.

The Dolphins' pass defense had mostly held up through the first three games of the season, as they allowed just 13.3 Fantasy points per game to wide receivers in that span. Unfortunately, the Raiders and Packers' receiving corps have racked up 62 Fantasy points against them over the last two games, and Jeffery and Marshall should be able to keep that up.

Marshall has not faced the Dolphins since his departure from the team in 2012, while Jeffery has never faced them in his career. Still both players are coming off 100-yard performances and should be viewed as must-start Fantasy options for this matchup.

Brandon Marshall delivers first 100-yard game in Week 6

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/12/14) Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall racked up a season-high 113 yards while catching six of his nine targets in his team's 27-13 win over the Falcons in Week 6.

Marshall came through with a big play from midfield on the team's first touchdown drive, hauling in a pass and racing down to the three-yard line for a 47-yard gain before being tackled. It was the first 100-yard game of the season for Marshall, who has battled ankle issues while managing just 188 yards over his first five games. He'll try and stay hot when the Dolphins come to town in Week 7.
