McClain the next Tolbert in San Diego?: Chargers coach Norv Turner told KWWN-AM in Las Vegas over the weekend that he's excited about what running back/fullback Le'Ron McClain brings to the team. He was signed as a free agent in March. "[H]e's a very versatile player and he's a big old-school fullback," Turner said. "But he's a good runner, he's got good catching skills and I think he'll be a big addition." (Updated 05/21/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Many believe that the Chargers' decision not to add another a running back will mean a big season for Ryan Mathews. That could be true, but if McClain can pick up a decent percentage of the reps Mike Tolbert left behind when he went to Carolina, then he could be worth a little bit in Fantasy. Back in 2008 McClain had the chance to be the Ravens' primary rusher and he wound up with 902 rush yards on 232 carries with 10 touchdowns. If the Chargers fail to add another back through training camp, McClain could emerge as a late-round sleeper. (Updated 05/21/2012).
