(1/5/13) Vikings defensive lineman Jared Allen said Saturday he will have arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder in the offseason, the Pioneer Press reports. Allen, who had six tackles and a sack during Minnesota's 24-10 loss at Green Bay in an NFC Wild Card matchup, said it's the first time in his career he will have surgery.
|DE Jared Allen saw a statistical decline in 2012, so there's a little concern about his future. True, he had 12 sacks, making it his sixth straight with double-digit totals, but his tackle totals reached an eight-year low with 45 and he didn't contribute a whole heck of a lot else. He's still considered a No. 1 Fantasy defensive lineman worth a mid-round pick at the latest, but with the position starting to gather some depth and Allen at 31 years of age next season, there's some concern over just how much longer he has before he really declines.
