Preseason Outlook

Cooley lands on IR: Washington placed TE Chris Cooley on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday. Cooley was already expected to miss at least a month with a broken hand, but after having his knee checked out by Dr. James Andrews this weekend, the Redskins decided to shut him down. Cooley has failed to top seven games played in two of his past three seasons. His 428 receptions rank 18th all-time among tight ends in NFL history. (Updated 10/25/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Cooley played in five games this season as he took a backseat to fellow TE Fred Davis in the Redskins' passing game. The 29-year-old amassed just eight receptions and 65 yards while being held without a touchdown in a season for the first time in his career. Cooley's long-term status could be in jeopardy if Davis continues to emerge as a standout. Fantasy owners should leave Cooley on waivers for the rest of the season. (Updated 10/25/2011).
