Moore has ankle injury: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Tuesday that RB Mewelde Moore, who left the AFC Championship Game against Baltimore with an ankle injury, attended meetings Monday and walked around without any kind of support or protective boot.

Fantasy Analysis

It sounds like Moore will play in the Super Bowl against the Cardinals, but he's not a good Fantasy option at this time. Moore is the backup to Willie Parker at this time, and Parker has carried the load with success for the Steelers during the playoffs. Look at Moore as a backup option for the Super Bowl and heading into the offseason.

2009 Fantasy outlooks: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are a great team and the defending Super Bowl champs, but when it comes to Fantasy, the best thing they have to offer is defense. Our Jamey Eisenberg evaluates Pittsburgh from a Fantasy perspective.

Mewelde Moore went from an afterthought with the Steelers prior to 2008 to a solid Fantasy option once Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall went down with injuries. Moore finished the season with 140 carries for 588 yards (4.2 avg.) and five touchdowns, and caught 40 passes for 320 yards (8.0 avg.) and a touchdown. He also lost two fumbles. Moore started four games and had over 90 total yards in each one. He also had three other games with over 50 yards and was one of the hottest picks off the waiver wire. This year, Moore will again be behind Parker and Mendenhall, but Moore is going to be a free agent after this season, which could motivate him to play well when given an opportunity. Don't plan on drafting Moore in any leagues, but if something were to happen to Parker and/or Mendenhall, Moore is the man to get off the waiver wire immediately. He's proven that he can help a Fantasy team when given a chance. (Updated 3/18/09)
