Phillips sprinting to finish: San Diego linebacker Shaun Phillips tallied 2.5 sacks and four tackles during the Chargers' 27-17 win over the Jets in Week 16. Phillips' total ranked second on the team that managed 11 total sacks on quarterback Greg McElroy, who was making his first NFL start. (Updated 12/24/12) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Phillips halted a three-game stretch -- his longest skid of the season -- without a sack and boosted his overall total to 9.5 sacks. He has now posted 2.5 sacks in two separate games this year and is just shy of reaching double-digits for the third time in his career. Fantasy owners should consider him a quality option in most IDP formats. (Updated 12/24/12). |
| Shaun Phillips is a free agent this offseason, and where he plays will determine his Fantasy value. He is not expected to return to San Diego where he has spent his entire nine-year career. Phillips played well in 2012 with nine sacks, 49 total tackles (33 solo), three fumble recoveries and one defensive touchdown. Keep an eye on where he ends up, and we consider him a No. 3 Fantasy linebacker. He is worth drafting with a late-round pick, and he can be a spot starter or bye-week replacement in the majority of leagues. (Updated 4/26/13) |
