Vilma should be OK for playoffs: Sean Payton said he wanted to be smart by sitting both S Malcolm Jenkins (neck) and LB Jonathan Vilma (knee), who were both questionable coming into the Panthers game, for their regular-season finale. Payton said both probably would have been able to play if it were next week in the playoffs. (Updated 01/01/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Both are solid starts in playoff Fantasy formats. In season, Vilma is worth starting as a No. 2 Fantasy LB. (Updated 01/01/2012).
Jonathan Vilma had a good season in 2010, but it became apparent that the tackle stats that Fantasy owners love to lean on were declining. He had 132 total tackles (98 solo) in '08, 110 total (87 solo) in '09 and 105 total (71 solo) in '10. He did add a career-high four sacks and an interception, proving that he's more than a run stopper. While the downward trend in tackles is alarming, no one should pass on Vilma in drafts for it. He's perfect as a No. 2 Fantasy LB with obvious upside given his track record. Draft him in the middle rounds. (Updated 5/3/11)
