Philbin: QB job still up for grabs: Days after Dolphins owner Stephen Ross declared Matt Moore as the team's starting quarterback, head coach Joe Philbin says he'll make the call on who starts for the Dolphins this season, not Ross. "I know he's the owner, but he might not sign my check, the treasurer does," Philbin said Tuesday according to the Palm Beach Post. "But last time I checked, he's on board. We've been very up front with him, that we want a competitive situation at that position." (Updated 05/24/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
During late May OTAs, Moore and David Garrard were alternating snaps with the starters while rookie Ryan Tannehill worked with the backups. Reports say all three quarterbacks looked good. We think Tannehill will ultimately start the most games for the Dolphins, but if the coaches don't think he's ready to start, then Moore will probably begin the season under center. The reality is that none of the Dolphins' quarterbacks are worth starting in Fantasy and can be left off of standard rosters. (Updated 05/24/2012).

Matt Moore is expected to compete with rookie Ryan Tannehill and David Garrard for the starting job this season. Moore finished 2011 as Miami's starter, and he played well given the lack of talent around him. He took over for the injured Chad Henne in Week 6 and had at least 18 Fantasy points in five games (standard scoring). He ended up as a useful Fantasy option to owners in deeper leagues, and he could be in a similar position this year if he starts. That seems unlikely with Tannehill aboard, plus the Dolphins are lacking playmakers, especially with Brandon Marshall now in Chicago. If he somehow earns the starting job, Moore could be a serviceable No. 2 Fantasy quarterback in deeper formats. (Updated 5/24/12)
