San Fran franchises Goldson: The 49ers officially placed the franchise tag on safety Dashon Goldson. When he signs he'll be guaranteed $6.2 million for 2012, unless of course he signs a long-term deal, which the Niners are hopeful for. “Dashon has been a 49er since we selected him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft. By using the franchise tag on Dashon, it affords us the opportunity to continue to work on a long-term contract with him, while also ensuring he will be a 49er for a sixth season, in 2012," Niners general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. Goldson saw action in 14 regular season games for the 49ers, collecting 67 tackles and six interceptions along the way. Dashon Goldson received the franchise tag this offseason, and he will likely look for a long-term deal heading into training camp. If he doesn't get a contract then he could hold out, but if he's ready for Week 1 then he should be considered a quality option in IDP leagues.
