Big Ben blames injuries for bad 2012
(3/6/13) In another interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he wasn't comfortable with how his arm held up following shoulder and rib injuries last season. Though he had 20-plus Fantasy points in three of his final four regular-season games, the Steelers went 1-3 and missed out on the playoffs. "Sometimes, certain passes just weren't right. I didn't trust myself to get enough zip on it to throw it out there. I tried to guide it too much instead of just throw it. But that's making excuses," he said. "I'll be better, health-wise. ... I'm working out earlier this year. I took one week off, one week. I have no issues."
Big Ben: No locker room issues
(3/1/13) After Steelers safety Ryan Clark said that the team's locker room was "fractured" last season, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to clear the air. "I want it to be known there is no locker-room issue, there is no leadership issue," he said. "Even if guys say it out of frustration, they're trying to find something to say. I think it's important to know we all have each other's back. ... Let's move on with this offseason, to training, to getting ready. I don't think there's a reason to look back anymore. That's what I'm hoping to just say: Done."
Big Ben won't need adjusting
(12/31/12) Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is not expected to require offseason surgery for his ailing right shoulder or dislocated rib, the Beaver County Times reports. Roethlisberger, who missed three games during the middle of the season with the issues, initially told reporters Sunday he felt fine before admitting he might not be "healthy enough" for a trip to the Pro Bowl. "Just get healthy first and foremost," he said of his offseason goal. "I already started to formulate a plan with [conditioning coach] Garrett Giemont to get my body better and ready to go."
Roethlisberger closes season strong
(12/30/12) Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger bounced back from a rough performance, closing the season out with a 24-10 win over the Browns in Week 17. Roethlisberger passed for just 134 yards while completing 15 of 23 attempts, however he passed for a trio of short touchdowns, for just fourth three-touchdown game of the season. Roethlisberger tossed a 1-yard touchdown to Leonard Pope in the first half, and then added a 9-yard score to Antonio Brown and a 12-yarder to Plaxico Burress in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Big Ben faces favorite foe
(12/27/12) Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has enjoyed plenty of success against his Week 17 opponent, having racked up 14 wins and just one loss in 15 games against the Browns. Roethlisberger has passed for an average of 231.5 yards per game in his career against the Browns, with 21 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. Roethlisberger was forced to miss his team’s previous game against the Browns, in Week 12, due to a shoulder injury.
