Freeman motivated for big year: The Tampa Bay Times reports that Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman is motivated this season after a failure to succeed in a bigger way in 2012. Freeman threw a club record 27 touchdowns but had 17 interceptions. He is in the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, and coach Greg Schiano has said he is 'not married' to his starting quarterback. Freeman insists he has a good relationship with Schiano and hasn't paid much attention to comments directed at him. "The entire offseason, I've been in constant communucation with coach,'' Freeman said. "I had a lot of time and sat down and talk with him about a number of things football related, life related. Me and coach, we've got a great relationship. Every now and then, somebody will call you and say, "Hey man, what's up with you and your coach?' But we know how it is. It's something I'm not really concerned about it. I'm kind of living it and I know how it is.''

Freeman also set career highs in passing yards last year with 4,065, and he has a dynamic receiving corps with Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams. But Freeman needs to be more consistent and play at a higher level to prove he's a franchise quarterback and someone Fantasy owners can count on. We view him as a No. 2 option with a late-round pick. The potential is there, but this is a prove it year for Freeman where he needs to step up or else his time as a starter could end.

| Josh Freeman finished six points shy of being among the Top 12 Fantasy quarterbacks last season. Depending which part of his year you remember seeing, this will either surprise you or disgust you. His first four games were weak before coming out of the bye with reckless abandon, stringing together six straight games with at least two touchdowns and at least 20 Fantasy points. Then he hit a wall in Week 12 and had a couple of decent games mixed in with some stinkers (who could forget his back-to-back four interception games in Weeks 15 and 16?). We do know the Bucs will stick with Freeman heading into 2012 and we know he'll play behind an offensive line that was decimated by injuries by the end of the year along with a very good receiving corps that helped him put up career-highs in yardage (4,065) and touchdowns (27). No one should reach for Freeman in drafts but targeting him late in drafts as a No. 2 quarterback could pay off dividends as he enters a contract year and is basically in the exact same situation Joe Flacco was in last season.
