Washington got three sacks, two by linebacker Brian Orakpo, and safety Brandon Meriweather's second interception this season. Still, the Redskins DST did not disrupt Eli Manning too much as he completed a season-high 78.6 percent of his throws.

|Coordinator comes to defense of Brian Orakpo |
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
(10/31/13) Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett came to the defense of linebacker Brian Orakpo, who has just three sacks in seven games and no tackles in two of his last three games.
"Last week he got chipped 22 times," Haslett said Thursday, per The Washington Post. "The tight end was there 22 times. So that’ll tell you something about who everybody thinks … has the ability to get a lot of sacks. They were trying to take Brian out of the game. So he got chipped a lot. He got hit a lot. That kind of happens. Plus, you don’t get a lot of sacks on Peyton [Manning], anyway. … The guy gets the ball out of his hand fast and everything. But it just shows you when they stick a tight end over there to chip him … what kind of guy he is."
|Brian Orakpo has first career INT for touchdown |
|by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com|
(10/20/13) Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo recorded a pair of firsts on the same great play Sunday during a 45-41 home win over Chicago.
Orakpo, who sat out most of last season due to injury, caught a tipped Jay Cutler pass for his first career interception. He then returned it 29 yards for his first career defensive touchdown.
The linebacker finished the game with four tackles, one coming for a loss. He has 21 tackles this season to go with three sacks. The Redskins play at Denver Week 8 and Orakpo will be coming for Peyton Manning.
|Brian Orakpo is coming back from a torn pectoral muscle suffered in Week 2 in 2012, and he's expected to make a full recovery in time for training camp. He should pick up where he left off, which was 29.5 sacks in his four-year career. He's not a huge source of tackles at linebacker with 59 total being his career high, but he makes up for it rushing the passer. We consider Orakpo a No. 3 linebacker in IDP leagues. He's worth a late-round pick, and if sacks are weighted heavily in your leagues, then you can consider Orakpo a potential starting option. (Updated 4/26/13) |
