(10/18/13) The Seahawks' depth along the defensive line allowed them to keep the pressure on throughout Week 7 against the Cardinals Thursday. All told, the Seahawks brought down Carson Palmer seven times, with eight players combining for sacks.
A pair of linebackers, Malcolm Smith and K.J. Wright combined for 1 1/2 sacks, while the rest came from the line. Tony McDaniel, Clinton McDonald, Michael Bennett, Chris Clemons and Cliff Avril each picked up a full sack, while Red Bryant combined for a half sack with Wright.
|Cliff Avril signed a two-year deal with the Seahawks in March, boosting their pass rush and likely giving him some good opportunities to remain a relevant Fantasy option. Last year Avril registered 9.5 sacks to lead the Lions, adding 35 total tackles with other minimal numbers. That's a drop compared to where he was a year prior, lowering his Fantasy profile. He should stay right about there with the Seahawks, though there are other pass rushers there to challenge him for the top producer of sacks. The good news is that he should remain a defensive lineman. Fantasy owners should only consider him with a mid- to late-round pick. (Updated 5/15/13) |
