Battle between Gabbert, Henne begins: Jaguars quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne kicked off the team's April minicamp by rotating reps with the first-team offense. Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said he liked what he saw from both QBs so far and warned not to read too much into who gets reps first. "At some point in time, when we're playing games, the starter will get the reps first," Fisch said to the official team website. "At this point in time, we're just rotating through because it wouldn't be fair to evaluate somebody if they were always taking reps with a second-team group. Right now, we're rotating through." | Fantasy Analysis |
Gabbert completed 58.3 percent of his passes over basically nine starts for 1,662 yards, nine touchdowns, six interceptions and three fumbles. Henne completed 53.9 percent of his passes over basically seven starts for 2,084 yards with 11 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, a rushing touchdown and three fumbles lost. Neither passer is going to set the world on fire but after reviewing last season Henne probably has a bit more upside than Gabbert. If we had to draft one it would be him but neither Jaguars quarterback should make a standard Fantasy roster. (Updated 4/18/13). |
| Chad Henne earned the right to compete for the starting job with the Jaguars after totaling 11 touchdowns and averaging 267 passing yards per outing in the Jags' final seven games last season. That didn't lead to many wins, but at least he showed he's capable of being a decent passer. Henne will battle Blaine Gabbert for the top job in training camp and while the Jaguars' receiving corps isn't half bad, there's no Fantasy appeal for either Jacksonville quarterback outside of leagues that start multiple signal-callers.
