Gabbert gets help in Blackmon: Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon was taken with the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Jaguars. This is a strong young man who scored 38 touchdowns in his final 25 games and caught 244 passes for 3,378 yards in his collegiate career (35 games). Gabbert now has Blackmon to go with Laurent Robinson as his top two targets for the foreseeable future. (Updated 04/26/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
This obviously helps Gabbert, who is still developing as a quarterback and working in a new offense led by head coach Mike Mularkey. But Gabbert was so rough last year that it's going to take some rave reviews in training camp and some good preseason play for Fantasy owners to trust him, even with the receiving upgrades. He's worth a late-round flier in seasonal drafts based on low expectations. (Updated 04/26/2012).

Blaine Gabbert's rookie season included him completing 50.8 percent of his passes for an average of 5.36 yards per attempt and turning over the ball more (11 interceptions, five fumbles lost) than scoring (12 passing touchdowns). He also claims he played on a hurt toe. Obviously, no one's thinking very highly of him - except for new head coach Mike Mularkey. The Jags' freshly-minted front man has worked with quality quarterbacks throughout his career (including Matt Ryan for his entire career) and plans to do his best work with Gabbert. That is, unless Chad Henne does better. The Jaguars added Henne as a free agent this offseason, and he's expected to push Gabbert for the starting job. Jacksonville's offense is on the rise as it added receivers Laurent Robinson and Justin Blackmon and still has a good offensive line and running back Maurice Jones-Drew. But the reality is that neither Jaguars passer should be considered in Fantasy, even with the receiving additions. Gabbert has some sleeper value, but unless you're in a dynasty/keeper league and can spend a late pick on him, he's not worth the risk. If he improves you should be able to find him on waivers during the year. (Updated 5/24/12)
