Bradford gets new weapon
(4/25/13) The Rams made a bold move in the NFL Draft Thursday night by trading up in the first round to select West Virginia receiver Tavon Austin at No. 8 overall. That should make quarterback Sam Bradford happy. Austin will help the Rams replace the departed Danny Amendola, except Austin is a much more explosive player.
Bradford stays in same system
(1/18/13) The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer coming back to the Rams in 2013, that bodes well for quarterback Sam Bradford. With the return of Schottenheimer, Bradford will have the same coordinator and same offensive scheme in back-to-back seasons for the first time in his NFL career. Bradford went from Pat Shurmur and a West Coast scheme in 2010, to Josh McDaniels and more of a deep-passing approach in 2011, to Schottenheimer and something in-between in 2012. “Traditionally, it means quite a bit just because you hit the ground running,” Schottenheimer said. “In this day and age where you’ve got limited opportunities to meet and to work, I think it can mean great things."
Bradford ends year with defeat
(12/30/12) St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford's season came to an end Sunday with a Week 17 loss at Seattle. Bradford and the Rams gave it a solid effort, but lost it in the end. Bradford went 25 for 42 in the game for 252 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He found Austin Pettis for a 2-yard touchdown in the second quarter but did not account for any touchdowns after that. Bradford rushed once for 6 yards.
Bradford to be tested
(12/25/12) Rams quarterback Sam Bradford heads into the Week 17 season finale at Seattle with nothing to lose. He has nothing to gain, either, considering the Rams have been eliminated from playoff contention. Bradford is playing a Seattle team he met back in Week 4 and went just 16 of 30 against for 221 yards without a touchdown and with one interception. Bradford hasn't topped that performance in terms of yardage in his last four games against the Seahawks and has one touchdown and four interceptions over that stretch of football.
Bradford lacking in yardage
(12/23/12) Rams quarterback Sam Bradford didn't perform poorly on the road against a Buccaneers defense that entered Week 16 ranked dead last against the pass, but because the Buccaneers committed five turnovers, he wasn't required to do much either. As a result, he finished with only 196 yards -- his lowest total in five games -- on 13 of 27 passing. He did throw for two scores, though, connecting with Lance Kendricks on an 80-yard catch-and-run and Austin Pettis on a 5-yard toss, both in the third quarter. He also threw an interception.
