|An encore in store for Roddy White? |
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(12/4/13) After being limited by ankle and hamstring injuries all season, Falcons wide receiver Roddy White finally did last week what Fantasy owners had expected him to do all season, catching 10 passes for 143 yards against the Bills. And he did it just in time for one of the more favorable matchups he'll have all season.
The Falcons travel to Green Bay in Week 14, where they'll take on a defense that ranks 22nd against the pass, allowing 250.5 yards per game. The Packers have given up the seventh-most Fantasy points to wide receivers this season. They gave up six catches for 101 yards and a touchdown to Calvin Johnson in Week 13 and eight catches for 110 yards to Victor Cruz in Week 11. They played the Vikings in between, so you wouldn't have expected them to give up big numbers to a wide receiver in that one.
White says his ankle is still less than 100 percent, but he was clearly a different player in Week 13, converting 10 of his 14 targets and making several acrobatic catches. Yes, he'll still have to contend with Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez for looks, but of the three, he has the longest track record with Ryan. At the very least, he's worth a second look as a flex option this week.

(12/2/13) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who has been plagued by injury all season, is coming off his best game of the season Sunday, totaling 10 catches for 143 yards against the Bills. Though, White admits he is still not 100 percent.
"My ankle is still bothering me, but I'm a football player," White said, per ESPN. "That's what they pay me to do: play football. And that's what I've been doing my whole life. That's all I know how to do. So I'm going to get myself out there and fight with my teammates every week, if I can. If I feel like I can go out there and be productive, I'm going to go out there and help my team win."
White suffered a high-ankle sprain in the preseason and said he hasn't gotten the chance to let the injury heal.
"Nah, I didn't think I was going to be healed by now," White said. "I dealt with this my rookie year. And with these kinds of things, you need a break. You need maybe two months of not doing anything so your body naturally heals itself. Then you feel like you can go 100 percent."
|Roddy White has best game of the year Week 13 |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(12/1/13) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White had his best game of the season Week 13 against the Bills.
White caught 10 balls for 143 yards. Both figures represent a season-high for White, who has been limited by injuries throughout the year. White’s previous season-high was four catches and 45 yards in a game against the Jets. Despite receiving one fewer target than Harry Douglas, White did the most with his chances, leading the club in receiving. Matt Ryan only tossed one touchdown, so White was held out of the end zone Week 13.
White will take on the Packers Week 14.
|Roddy White looking at strong matchup Week 13 |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(11/27/13) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White is looking at a strong matchup Week 13 against the Bills.
Buffalo has had an awful pass defense this season, allowing wide receivers to score 27.73 Fantasy points per game. Through 11 games, the team has allowed 22 passing touchdowns. They've allowed seven wide receivers to break 100 receiving yards in a game this season. After allowing 11 passing touchdowns from Week 6 to Week 8, the team has settled in as of late, allowing just two passing touchdowns in the last three games.
White may not be the best candidate to take advantage of the Bills poor defense. Injuries have limited White all season. Though he's now healthy, White still hasn't been able to break 50 receiving yards in a single game. Harry Douglas has emerged as a more consistent target for Matt Ryan lately, and he could be the better play against the Bills.
|Just two passes come Roddy White's way in Week 12 |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(11/22/13) Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was barely a factor in Week 12, in a 17-13 loss to the Saints Thursday.
White, who was targeted nine times in an otherwise quiet game last week, was hardly featured in the offense this week. He hauled in both passes thrown his way for 24 yards, with a long reception of 13 yards.
Injuries have largely ruined White's season, as he enters Week 13 with 20 catches for 209 yards in eight games. He is on pace for the least productive season of his career.
|Despite sharing the field with teammate Julio Jones, Roddy White finished as a top-12 Fantasy receiver for the fifth year in a row in 2012 and aims to do it again in 2013. White saw a dip in targets thanks to Jones and teammate Tony Gonzalez but still finished the regular season with 143, catching 92 of them for 1,351 yards. He stumbled in the touchdown department, catching seven scores -- a four-year low. And when White did shine as a Fantasy performer it was primarily indoors: He had 10-plus Fantasy points seven times in 10 games indoors vs. one game with that total in six games outdoors. That's been consistent with his career and something to remember when looking at White in 2013 drafts since the Falcons are slated for another 10 indoor games this season. Ultimately, White has proven to be a reliable receiver Fantasy owners should have no problem starting on a weekly basis. That makes him a top-12 option on Draft Day worth a pick between 20th and 30th overall, likely within 10 picks of when someone selects Jones. (Updated 4/26/13) |
