Palmer trade is official: The trade between the Cardinals and Raiders for quarterback Carson Palmer is official. The Cards will send a sixth-round pick to the Raiders for their seventh-round pick this year along with Palmer, plus the Raiders will get a seventh-round pick in the 2014 draft from the Cardinals if Palmer starts 13 games. Palmer had a so-so 2012, throwing for 4,018 yards over 15 games with 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. (Updated 4/2/13) |

The Cardinals won't view Palmer as a long-term solution at quarterback but for 2013 and maybe 2014, he'll do just fine. New Cards coach Bruce Arians plans to implement a downfield offense and Palmer's arm is just good enough to fit that plan. Throwing to a receiving corps including Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts and Michael Floyd won't hurt his cause, nor will playing from behind often. A patchwork offensive line, however, could keep Palmer from delivering beyond expectations. Keep Palmer's name in mind as a Fantasy backup worth a late pick. (Updated 4/2/13). |
| Terrelle Pryor got the chance to start one game for the Raiders in 2012, and he turned some heads in a Week 17 loss at San Diego. He should now get the chance to compete for the starting job with Matt Flynn, who was acquired via trade in March, and rookie Tyler Wilson. We wouldn't be surprised if Pryor wins the battle based on talent, but the Raiders might go with Flynn based on his limited experience. In that game against the Chargers, Pryor displayed nice athleticism, which is all the rage for quarterbacks today with guys like Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson. Pryor was 13 of 28 passing for 150 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, and he added 49 rushing yards and a touchdown. He is a sneaky pick with a late-round selection in deep leagues if he wins the job in training camp, and if Pryor does take over this season he could make an impact. We like Pryor's upside as a deep sleeper this year, especially if he's the starter in Week 1. (Updated 5/15/13) |
