Dalton hopes to improve

(1/8/13) The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is hoping to improve heading into 2013 following a disappointing ending in the playoff loss at Houston. Said Dalton about the growing criticism of his play: “I’m not worried about that. Not that we’re satisfied where we’re at, but we went to the playoffs in my first two years that I was here. That’s something that hasn’t happened in 30 years. To go from 4-12 before I got here to 9-7 and now 10-6, we’re getting better and going to be better next year.” Dalton wants to get better on deep throws. “I still think I can improve on it. If I hit on a couple of those longer throws in a game it changes things. I have to be better in that phase of the game,” Dalton said. “Put it in a spot where they can make a play and do a better job of that.”

Dalton eliminated again by Texans

(1/5/13) For the second straight season Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton saw his season come to an end in a mediocre performance at Houston in an AFC Wild Card game Saturday. Dalton endured one of his worst performances of the season as he completed 4 of 10 passes for just 3 yards in the first half. He picked up the pace in the second half as he completed 14 of 30 passes for 127 yards with an interception and was held out of the end zone in a 19-13 defeat. He also rushed for 19 yards on five carries. Dalton missed a wide-open A.J. Green in the end zone on a 3rd-and-11 play. The Bengals went 0 for 9 on third down attempts in the game.

Dalton ready for Texans rematch

(1/3/13) Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton heads into the Wild Card round at Houston trying to play at a high level after a down month in December. Dalton played five games in December against San Diego, Dallas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Baltimore and had 16 Fantasy points or less in every game. The low stats coincide with receiver Mohammed Sanu (foot) being out after he got hurt in Week 12. This could be a tough matchup for Dalton against the Texans, who has allowed just six quarterbacks to score at least 20 Fantasy points, including only two in the past five games. Last year, Dalton played the Texans in the Wild Card round of the playoffs and was 27 of 42 passing for 257 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions.

Dalton sits out second half

(12/30/12) With little to play for, the Bengals opted to rest their starters in the second half of Sunday’s game against the Ravens in Week 17. Quarterback Andy Dalton took a set at half time, having completed 10 of 15 attempts for 78 yards in the game. He passed for an 11-yard touchdown to wide receiver Marvin Jones before leaving the game. The Bengals would go on to win the game, 23-17, though it had no bearing on their playoff seeding.

Dalton ready to get back on track

(12/27/12) Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton will be looking to get back on track heading into the regular season finale at home against Baltimore in Week 17. Dalton threw for just 278 yards and was picked off twice in Week 16 against the Steelers. He'll face a Baltimore defense that has allowed 233.9 yards passing this season and has not picked off a quarterback in the last three weeks. Dalton was held to just 221 yard passing and a pick in his previous meeting against the Ravens in Week 1.
