Peyton still not 100 percent: Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning said he's still not 100 percent recovered from his multiple neck surgeries, which caused him to miss all of the 2011 season. "You know, I still have certain challenges," Manning told WATE-TV on Friday, according to NFL.com, while visiting the University of Tennessee campus for an event. "When you're dealing with nerves, I've learned it's a patience deal. They kind of say it could be a year or two, or it may never come back, so I'm kind of hopeful. I kind of wish certain things would come back a little bit more, but I have learned to adjust and compensate in the state that I am. I still would like to make some more improvement. I still work at it. Obviously, I still can perform kind of status quo, but I still have hopes and (am) determined to try to seek some more improvement. But, yeah, I'm certainly better than I was last year. But I'm still not quite where I was before I was injured." (Updated 4/15/13) |

Manning, at less than 100 percent, was still pretty amazing in his first year with the Broncos. He passed for 4,659 yards and the second-most touchdowns of his NFL career (37). This year he adds Wes Welker to an already standout receiving corps with Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. He should have another outstanding season, and he's worth drafting as a No. 1 quarterback as early as Round 3. (Updated 4/15/13). |
| Can Peyton Manning be even better in 2013 than he was in 2012? Denver coach John Fox thinks so, and the addition of receiver Wes Welker will help. Fox said this offseason that Manning will be healthier this season as he continues to improve following his neck issues in 2011. That could make Manning a candidate to be the No. 1 Fantasy quarterback this year because he was impressive in 2012, his first year with the Broncos. Manning completed 68.6 percent of his passes for 4,659 yards, 37 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. It was the 12th time he passed for 4,000-plus yards (third time with 4,500 yards) and the seventh time he’s thrown for 30-plus touchdowns. Manning will be 37 when the season starts, but he continues to play at a high level and defied all skeptics with his performance last year. He has arguably the best receiving corps in the NFL with Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and now Welker to go with a solid running game behind a stout offensive line. We consider Manning a Top-5 Fantasy quarterback on Draft Day, and he’s worth drafting with a pick toward the end of Round 2 or beginning of Round 3 in all formats. (Updated 4/25/13) |
