Texans backing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for now
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(10/22/14) Texans coach Bill O'Brien is still backing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick following Monday's loss at Pittsburgh that dropped the team to 3-4.
“Fitzy is our quarterback,” O'Brien said Tuesday, per The Houston Chronicle.
However, for the first time since Ryan Mallett joined the team just before the start of the regular season, O'Brien linked both of the quarterbacks leading up to Week 8 at Tennessee.
"We’re going to continue to work with both of these guys in practice, and we’ll see how it improves," O’Brien said. "And hopefully, it will get better and better, and that will help our offense get better."
The Texans have lost three straight games. Still, O'Brien isn't about to pin all the struggles on Fitzpatrick.
"When you look at our tape … you cannot just point to one position and say that’s the position that is at fault," O’Brien said. "There are a lot of positions that need to play better. We need to coach better, all those different things. It all goes into why sometimes we stall offensively. It’s not one guy."
Ryan Fitzpatrick fades in MNF loss

|(10/21/14) Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick got off to a great start Monday against the Steelers, leading three straight scoring drives. But he forced a throw into traffic late in the first half, and it got deflected and picked off by defensive end Brett Keisel.
Fitzpatrick finished 21 of 32 for 262 yards and two touchdowns with the one interception. When he was playing well early, the team converted its first three third downs. Houston finished 4 of 12 on third down. Fitzpatrick has accounted for nine touchdowns and eight turnovers this year.
Both of Fitzpatrick's scoring passes went to running backs, with Alfred Blue taking a short pass 11 yards for a first-quarter touchdown and Arian Foster hauling in a 1-yard score late in the fourth.

Texans' Ryan Fitzpatrick tosses one touchdown Thursday

|(10/9/14) Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed one touchdown Thursday against the Colts.
Fitzpatrick completed 15 of 23 passes for 212 yards and a score. He was pressured constantly during the contest, taking five sacks. Fitzpatrick started slow, not completing a pass until his eighth dropback. After four straight incompletions, he was sacked twice. He did manage to draw a defensive pass interference call on his seventh dropback, so it was a little better than it looked. After that, Fitzpatrick turned out a solid game until the final drive. With the team down by five, Fitzpatrick turned the ball over after fumbling, ending the game.
Fitzpatrick will take on the Steelers Week 7.
Every Texans probable good to go Week 6

|(10/9/14) Every player listed as "probable" on the Texans injury report is active Thursday against the Colts.
Studs like J.J. Watt, Arian Foster and Brian Cushing will play. Alfred Blue and Ryan Fitzpatrick were also cleared.
The club will also have A.J. Bouye, Akeem Dent, Tim Jamison, Damaris Johnson, Ben Jones, Johnathan Joseph, Shane Lechler, Derek Newton, Ryan Pickett, Eddie Pleasant, D.J. Swearinger and Jeff Tarpinian available for the contest. All 12 players were listed as probable entering the game.
|The Texans signed Ryan Fitzpatrick following his up-and-down year with the Titans. He's expected to battle for the starting job with rookie Tom Savage, among others. Fitzpatrick is capable of some good games but he's pretty much one of the most inconsistent, turnover-prone quarterbacks you'll find. No one should draft him in Fantasy outside of with a late pick in two-QB leagues.
