Bears RB Matt Forte scores twice in losing effort

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/19/14) Bears running back Matt Forte was the lone bright spot in his team's Week 7 defeat to Miami at Soldier Field.

Forte had an abysmal first half, rushing for only 11 yards on two carries. He bounced back with a 10-yard touchdown reception on the opening drive of the second half and a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. He posted 109 yards of total offense, rushing for 49 yards and a score on 12 carries. He led the team with six catches for 60 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in a 27-14 defeat.

Forte and the Bears will look to get back in the win column Week 8 at New England.

Bears relatively healthy heading into Week 7 against Miami

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/17/14) The Bears have ruled linebacker Lance Briggs (ribs) and defensive back Chris Conte (shoulder) out for Week 7 at home against Miami. Linebacker Jon Bostic, who is nursing a back injury, was the only player listed as questionable on the injury report for Chicago.

The following players have been ruled probable for Sunday: Tackle Jermon Bushrod (knee, ankle), safety Ahmad Dixon (hamstring), running back Matt Forte (not injury related), linebacker Shea McClellin (hand), cornerback Sherrick McManis (quadricep, knee), tackle Jordan Mills (foot), defensive tackle Stephen Paea (not injury related) and linebacker D.J. Williams (neck).

Matt Forte back to being a monster

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/13/14) Going up against what we now know are three of the league's toughest run defenses in the Bills, the 49ers and the Jets, Bears running back Matt Forte looked like a potential bust the first three weeks. Nobody's thinking that now.

With a combined 157 yards and two touchdowns Week 6 at Atlanta, Forte has a combined 150 yards in three straight games. Of course, a large percentage of them are on the receiving end, but that's part of his appeal. His 10 catches in Week 6 give him double-digit catches in back-to-back games and at least five in all six games this season.

He's a monster, particularly in points-per-reception leagues. In fact, the only player I think I'd prefer to him in that format is DeMarco Murray, and that's just because he's the best player period.

So don't think about selling high or anything. This is Matt Forte, this is what he does, and you're lucky to have him. You may have preferred Jamaal Charles or LeSean McCoy on Draft Day, but he's overtaken them with his consistency.

Matt Forte totals 157 yards, two touchdowns in Week 6 win

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/12/14) Bears running back Matt Forte delivered a huge performance in his team's 27-13 Week 6 win over the Falcons Sunday, rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries while adding 10 catches on 13 targets for 77 yards.

Forte broke a tie with his first score late in the first quarter, which came on a draw out of a shotgun formation, then extended the lead on a similar play in the fourth quarter. After going four weeks without a trip to the end zone, the lead back now has three scores in his last two weeks. He's also manged to rack up more than 150 total yards in each of his last three games, and he has 22 receptions in the last two weeks. Forte will look to keep rolling in Week 7 when the Dolphins come to town.

Bears RB Matt Forte explodes as receiver against Panthers

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/5/14) Running ball is usually the forte for Matt Forte. But the Bears featured back proved more effective as a pass-catcher Sunday against Carolina.

Forte set a career record with 12 receptions. He racked up 105 yards, which ranks third all-time since he turned pro. He has been tearing it up as a receiver this season with 36 catches for 299 yards. Among his snags in Week 5 was a 10-yarder that went for an easy touchdown and tied the game at 7-7. Another covered 56 yards. Forte had seven catches for 85 yards in the first half alone.

He did not fare as well on the ground with 61 yards on 17 carries. He will try to pick up the pace in that department next Sunday against the host Falcons.
