Davis formally released by 'Skins: The Washington Post reports that the Redskins have formally released troubled RB James Davis, who abruptly left camp last week. Coach Mike Shanahan preciously thought the third-year player would retire. Davis was buried on the depth chart in D.C. (Updated 08/21/2011)

Davis, the talented Clemson product, is now free to sign with any NFL team. It may take some time, but he may be able to help out a team in need of a healthy -- and hungry -- running back. Arizona, Cincinnati, and Denver may be potential landing spots, so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on where he ends up. Davis has potential, but he is not worth selecting on Draft Day unless he quickly assimilates to a promising situation. (Updated 08/21/2011).
