Rank Among Leaders
|Looking good for Jamaal Charles |
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(12/5/13) With 90-plus rushing yards in back-to-back games and three of his last four, Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is on arguably his finest run or arguably his finest season. And there's no reason to think it will end Week 14 at Washington.
The Redskins rank an unremarkable 14th against the run, allowing 108.8 yards per game, but they've surrendered a league-leading 17 touchdowns on the ground. And as a result, they've given up the fourth-most Fantasy points to running backs this season.
Granted, they haven't allowed a 90-yard rusher since Week 7 against the Bears, but of course, for Charles, it's not all about the rushing yards. He's third among running backs in receiving yards with 452.
Between the two, he should get enough yardage to go along with however many touchdowns he scores. Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard certainly expect a big performance. They rank Charles No. 1 among running backs for Week 14.

(12/1/13) Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles managed to find the end zone Week 13 against the Broncos.
Charles had a solid game on the ground, rushing the ball 19 times for 93 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two passes for 27 yards. Denver did a good job limiting big plays by Charles. His longest run went just 15 yards. It was the ninth time Charles has picked up at least 100 all-purpose yards.
Charles will take on Washington Week 14.

(11/27/13) Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles ended a bit of a Fantasy lull by his standards in Week 12 when he rushed for two touchdowns in a loss against San Diego. It was also just the second time this season Charles surpassed 100 rushing yards, but he is averaging 122.1 scrimmage yards per game, which is best in the AFC.
Fantasy owners, especially ones that are vying for a playoff berth, are hopeful Charles will post another big performance Week 13 vs. Denver. Charles averaged 4.9 yards per carry Week 11 at Denver, but he finished with just 78 rushing yards and no touchdowns.
Running backs are averaging 75.3 rushing yards, 39.8 receiving yards and 17.5 Fantasy points per week against Denver. Running backs have totaled 14 touchdowns (nine rushing) in 11 games. In the last four games against Denver, running backs have averaged 108.5 rushing yards.
Charles heads into Week 13 as the highest-scoring Fantasy running back with 189 points (standard formats). He's averaging 17.2 Fantasy points per week and continues to be a must-start Fantasy option.

|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(11/24/13) Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles only had 14 carries Week 12, but made the most of his opporunities.
Charles rushed for 115 yards, good for 8.2 yards per rush. His biggest play came at the beggining of the fourth quarter. Charles took a handoff, and made a move to break free in the secondary, picking up 46 yards. The drive ended in a field goal, giving the team a four-point lead. He continues to be a threat in the red zone, scoring a touchdown from 7 yards out, and another from 1 yard out. As usual, Charles was also a threat in the passing game. He caught four of his six targets, picking up 42 yards. Charles had been on a scoring drought since Week 7, so the two touchdowns were a strong way to break his slump. Charles will take on the Broncos Week 13.

(11/18/13) Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles produced a season-low 72 yards from scrimmage in the loss at Denver. He ran 16 times for 78 yards, a 4.9-yard average, and caught a season-low two passes for minus-6 yards.
Charles was targeted eight times, but he and quarterback Alex Smith were not on the same page.
This is the second straight game Charles has been held under 100 yards from scimmage after hitting that mark the first eight games. It's the third straight game in which he has not scored.
Charles will try to re-assert his greatness Week 12 vs. San Diego.

|Adrian Peterson wasn't the only running back who came back from a torn ACL in 2012 to have a career season. Jamaal Charles was right there with him. He set career highs in carries (285) and rushing yards (1,509) despite having three games with fewer than 10 carries. When he had 17 or more carries, which happened nine times, he finished with double digits in Fantasy points. He also showed his explosiveness with two games with at least 226 rushing yards. Now he gets Andy Reid as his head coach, and he could turn Charles into a beast. While Reid was in Philadelphia he had three primary running backs in Duce Staley, Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy. That trio combined for six 1,000-yard rushing seasons, seven 1,500 total-yard seasons, nine seasons with at least 50 catches and five seasons with 10 total touchdowns. The last two times Charles played a full season, which was 2010 and 2012, he had at least 1,700 total yards and six total touchdowns. When you add up everything in his favor it makes Charles a slam-dunk first-round pick in 2013, and he could have a career year. (Updated 5/29/13) |
